What’s the difference between a website and a custom web application?+

A website mostly presents information: pages, content, a contact path. A web application lets users log in, act on data, and get different results based on who they are — dashboards, portals, CRMs, and SaaS products all fall here. When should we choose custom development over WordPress, Shopify, or Wix?+

Off-the-shelf platforms are a reasonable choice for simple sites with standard needs.
